Answer / prabal roy
the current is neither ac nor dc....it is impulse current
of very high amplitude..

Answer / aslam ali
It's not DC because DC doesn't have any induction effect. It
is an impulse

No dude ..its DC. when cloud is positively charged current
flows from cloud to earth as earth is at 0 potential. so
its unidirectional. sometimes when cloud is negatively
charged, current flows from earth to cloud. But its not
possible that same times same clouds gets + and - charged.
So at any instant current is from either cloud to earth or
earth to cloud. that is unidirectional. it does not changes
direction continuously for particular lightning.

Answer / saroj kayastha
I think DC current flows because, lightening occurs due to collides of positive cloud charges and Negative cloud charges

its AC
IF ITS dc Then we can store itbecause DC can be store but
not possible for AC.
other reason its magnitude is changed which possible for AC
