why the cutoff frequency is taken for 3dB and not other values like 1 or 2 db???..

Answer / shivani

Cutoff frequency is the frequency at which GAIN is reduced
to (1/2)^0.5 of its midband value.
And if we find the gain in dB then it will be equql to 3dB.
Gain(db) = 20log(1/1.41)=3dB
