Answer / raghavendran.r
Distance protection relays work on the value of Z = V/I.
Whenever there is a fault, the value of I increases and
thus the value of Z is reduced. It is by this vakue of
impedance the relay senses the distance of the fault from
its location.
It is also called as Ohmic method of Protection.

Answer / siva
The Power transformers inner and incipient faults are
identified by the Bacholtz relay.but the Faults which are
occurring outside the transformers are detected by the
Distance Protection relays.
the Distance protection relay operates on the principle of
Differential relay, and it is acted with reference from the
CT's and PT's Which are Connected on both the End of the
Transformer.

Why does the phase voltage of two healthy phases become equal to the line voltage in case of an ungrounded neutral 3 phase star connected sytem when a single line to ground fault occurs ?
what is the relation between the leading pf and supply voltage?
In secondary transmission i.e., in distribution side, supply for homes are connected through different phases in order to balance the 3 phase load. But in practical we saw nearby house doesn't have power due to single phasing. But other two phases give supply. How it's possible? it doesn't make "single phasing"?
