It's a petroleum refinery process,in which the heavy oil is allowed to pass through metal chambers under pressure and high temperature where the catalyst are present such as silica , alumina or zerolite.at the end of the process the heavy long chained oil molecules breaks into light , simple and short chain molecules with higher octane number
