In separetly excited m/c,we excite the field by a dc source,what not with ac source?

dc has uniform continous magnetic field while the ac has alternating magnetic field .so we use dc .as u know most of electrical hiost crane dc supply is used for above said reason

the dc source can be found easily and also the dc voltage is
not fluctuate from battery, so the machine can start normally.
