silent pole rotor-
1)used in low speed alternators(hydro-generator)
2)more no. of poles(4 to 64)
3)large diameter & small axial length
non-silent pole rotor-
1)used in high speed alternators(turbo-generator)
2)less no. of poles
3)small diameter & long axial length

salient means most noticeable. So in salient pole rotor the
poles are seen distinctly and in the other type you don't
see the shape of the poles and the rotor has smooth surface

Silent pole rotor-
1)large in diameter small in axial length
2)where flux density are high so lows speed alternators are
used for generating electrical energy.
3)Arrangement of large pole such to max 64
4) so these type pole rotors are used in hydro-generator
Non-silent pole rotor-
1)small in diameter large in axial length
2)Flux density appx. low high speed alternator are used
generating electrical energy.
3)No pole field are less appx.=4
4)so these type pole rotors are used in turbo-generator

During the testing of Electrical Equipment the test cables should not touch the equipments. For that testing engineers use to cotton rope to hang the cable from measuring Equipment to testing equipment terminal. Please explain the technical reason for this practice.
in magnetic field we send current to generate flux, why not voltage?
Can u explain : what is supply for train (whether a,c or d.c ).I know that supply is 25000v a.c .But there is rumour that supply is D.C. And also explain how lights and fans inside the trains are working ,and what type of motors are used in trains whether D.C motors or induction motors .If d.c motor, how it gets supply. If traction motors are used then what are traction motors and its functions and how it differs from other motors and also explain about locomotive . please reply..............
