what are the advantages and disadvantages of using bentonite slurry in bored cast in situ piles, b..

Answer / sjtbehera

I think Bentonite slurry used in piles to prevent seepage
and collapse of earth.
Advantage of bentonite slurry
1. High viscosity
2. low solids
3. suspended cutting
4. stability of bor holes

Disadvantage-
Retrads setting. the gel strength and viscosity properties
of the benonite clay allow for cutting suspension and
removal. thus advantage of benonite clay become a
disadvantage in the setting of small cutting and sandy
surface.
2. it is high swelling clay. the use of benonite clay alone
will not be sufficient to prevent hydration and swelling
formation.

While those of the second are respectively 0.18m and 3.5m. Plot the distribution of vertical stress intensity due to walls on a horizontal plane, 1m below ground level. The walls have negligible depth of foundation and are made of brick masonry (y = 19.2 kN/m cu)
