PUB supply to a building is known as HT or LT?
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 21 Yes | 10 No |
Answer / md ghouse adil meeran
We often come across the terms HT, LT, HV & LV in electric power systems and devices.
HT = High Tension starts from 3kv
LT = Low Tension
HV = High Voltage (almost like HT, usaully 1000V also calls High Voltage)
LV = Low Voltage (almost like LT)
these abrivations use all over the world for respective voltages.

usually the power cables are used at the high voltage side
called as High Tension side. similarly on low voltage side
called as Low tension.
But in a transformer HT stands for High Temperature and LT
stands for Low Temperature.

L.A. (Lightening Arrester) is located at a place from where transmission line enters the transmitting substation. So L.A. (Lightening Arrester) is the first equipments which has to encounter with lightening, high voltage surges and switching surges. It has to absorb energy of lightening, high voltage surges, and switching surges. L.A. (Lightening Arrester) is made up of layers of semiconductors. If these layers can not tolerate energy released by lightening, high voltage surges, and switching surges the L.A. (Lightening Arrester) blasts.
