In india the power supply is always in multiple of 11, eg.220 V, 440 V... what is the reason?..

Answer / mohideen

that is due to the form factor of a pure sine wave is 1.1.
form factor is given by the expression form factor=(rms/average)

In india the power supply is always in multiple of 11, eg.220 V, 440 V... what is the reason?..

Answer / m.s.ramya

Since the form fator of a sine wave is 1.1,because of this
reason the power supply is multiples of 11,220 and 440volts.

In india the power supply is always in multiple of 11, eg.220 V, 440 V... what is the reason?..

Answer / pratik p

1.1 form factor is everywhere in world.....

K_f = \frac{RMS}{Average} = \frac{\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}}
{\frac{2}{\pi}} = \frac{\pi}{2\sqrt{2}} \approx 1.110720735

In india the power supply is always in multiple of 11, eg.220 V, 440 V... what is the reason?..

Answer / vinodmalik2009

There is no specific technical reason for the adoptation of
the voltage in multiple of 11, it is just to standardise
for manufacturing of different fittings, insulators or
other switchgears accordingly to limit the varieties.

In india the power supply is always in multiple of 11, eg.220 V, 440 V... what is the reason?..

Answer / arunkumar

i am sure that the reason for voltage becomes like multiple
of 11 is not due to the power factor.because in india
highest transmission voltage is 765 and 765 is not a
multiple of 11.so we can not say like it is due to the form
factor

Answer / rudra pratap singh

In India, there is a loss of 10% in overall system. So
suplly is given in the formet.........

VOLTAGE+10% OF SUPLLY VOLTAGE
