I also thought yes as above described.
However, we have some electric problems in our factory for
2-3 days with one phase screwing off.
I have signed to rewire over 15 motors.

it is really true that wid only 2 phase connected the motor
rotates but with reduced torque andlow efficiency.

Answer / murugadoss
Take the second phase supply and connect to the capacitor input (15mfd/hp) (make sure the existing phase only to connect across the NV coil). then connect the output of the capacitor to the third phase. start and check the motor is running in the right direction if not change the second phase connection ( capacitor input) to the first phase.
Select the capacitor rating correctly otherwise the motor winding takes overheat and finally it will burn.

with 2 phase motor does take place of rotation but motor
should not be loaded .it will start or rotate with humming
sound.after get start the motor, we can load it, but only
with in a limit(which is much smaller then that is in normal
condition) if we loaded the motor with in limit (with in the
range of full load current)it will be continuous in rotation
but its torque will be reduced as well as speed and also
effected its efficiency.
