Capacitor Bank is used to compensate the reactive load to
improve the Power factorWe can check the capacitor by
Insulation tester only if its grounded or shorted....
Lay man method is....charge the capacitor and then check
the current
or test it with test lamp

Rajavel ji !..
We are talking about capacitor banks not
about those capacitors, we use in electronic circuits or
similar appications.

capacitor can be tested by connecting any one terminal of
the dc voltage(either +ve or -ve) directly and other one
terminal through lamp.if the lamp continuously glows then
the capacitor is short. if the bulb is not glow then the
capacitor is open.
and another method is by multimeter by putting in diode
checking mode we can observe initialy it shows 0 and
grarually the voltage is increasing and then it goes to OL

there is one meter called capacitance meter,by connecting
leads between two terminal, check capacitance.if in all 3
terminal there is balance resistance, check by giving
supply, there should be balance current.there is formula
1kvar=8.16 mfd.(capacitance)

First of all isolate the power supply then test the
capacitor using test lamp connected with one phase of
capacitor & another to neutral lamp will glow & discharge
slowly test the rest all capacitor individually

Neither the question, nor the answers are very focused here.
What type of tests are being discussed here? There are many
tests which can be performed on a capacitor bank. Mr.K.prabu
is requested to make his question clear. Other than on line
tests, the capacitor banks must be discharged and earthed by
suitable means before conducting any test. Capacitor banks
are discharged through resistance banks of suitable capacity.

I a capacitor bank Step by step put in load & check each
phase amps (current) by using clamp meter, compare all phase
& observe some amps difference.

dear all, in motor operation , motor is of 100 hp and bimetal relay setting is 130 amp, if relay is getting tripped on 120 amp balance current what can be the reason? Relay is newly replaced. I dont know but is there any frequency effect in thit case? Can frequency variation affect bimetal relay operation?
