Why the Transformer Nuetral is grounded?

In a distribution sector your fault current sector should
be immedietly earthed in order to sequre the equipment
getting damage. So the nearest path will be provided
through out the plant.
Transformer neutral is grounded because your transformer
will be the impotant electrical equipment and this has to
be protected for fault i cannot have a neutral floating and
it has to be earthed properly. It is also earthed in order
to reduce the 3rd Harmonics effect.

neutral grounding transformers are used to derive a
neutral-to-earth connection for systems that do not
otherwise have one.
The grounding transformer can have a zigzag winding
arrangement, or a wye-delta arrangement.
The transformer primary terminals (wye side) are connected
to the power system, and its neutral is connected to earth,
perhaps through a controlled impedance. (Usually, with
Wye-delta grounding transformers, the impedance is connected
inside the delta.) No other load is connected to the delta
of the transformer.
These transformers provide a high impedance to normal
currents (positive & negative sequence), but allow ground
fault currents (zero sequence) to flow, thereby allowing
protective devices to operate if a ground fault occurs.

Answer / p_g
In practical cases the three phase voltages are not equal and there will be presence of potential at the neutral point and neutral is earthed to provide the path for unbalanced current during normal operation. The earthed neutral also helps during any abnormality in the system due to fault,it allows heavy currents to flow into the ground before the system isolated by means of protection system.

Answer / bhaganna kolkur
When fault occurs in anyone of the phase then the fault current is increases 3 to 4 times more than the normal current so it will reduces voltage at secondry side.thise will affect the system (costly equipment) so to avoid thise neutral connection is done

We are ground to neutral of a transformer because we give a
earth protection is opperate in any fault so we ground the
neutral of transformer.
