the major diff between 8085 and 8086 1s 8085 is a 8 bit
processor 16 address lines where 8086 is a 16 bit with 20
address lines.

8085 is based on Von-Neumann architecture in which the data
and instructions are in the same memory space without any
distinction between them.8085 is CISC (Complex Instruction
Set Computer.
8085 is a 8 bit processor ie 8 bit data bus. Has got 16
Address Lines. Maximum Operating speed is 3MHz. 8085-A
Operates upto a maximum of 5MHz.
8086 is a 16 bit processor. Has got 20 address lines.
Operates upto 5MHz

8085 is Vonneumann architecture in which data and code is
shared in the by the same memory .
8085 is 16 x 8 bit processor where 8086 is 20 x 16 bit
processor .

Answer / jami venkatasuman
8085 consists 74 instructions.8086 consists 117 instructions
in 8086 four 16 bit registers are available and pin no 33-
min/(~max) it selects minimum mode when this pin is high
otherwise it selects maximum mode

8085 is a von neumann architecture.
8086 has 4 segment registers which are not peresent in
8085. also it has preftech queue which stores instructions
ahead of time which is not present in 8085. The BIU and
execution unit in 8086 works parallely which improves its
performance.
8085 is 16*8 bit proc. while 8086 20*16 bit proc.

8086 has a prefetch queue which is not presebt in 8085.
Also 8086 cotains 20 address lines.

Answer / m.devarajan
8085 use van neumann architecture and 8086 use pipelining
architecture
8085 has 16 address lines and 886 has 20 address lines
Is This Answer Correct ? | 11 Yes | 2 No |
Answer / jami venkatasuman
Both processors are belongs to intel family. but 8086
allows pipelining method so the architecture divided into
two parts (BIU AND EU).
Next difference is 8086 can operates in two modes 1. min
and 2.maximum
8086 has 14-16 bit register. the size of ALU and flag more
compared to 8085.
8086 has 3 pointer and 2 index registers.8086 has one queue
byte this one is not available in 8085 architecture. the
size of queue byte is 6 byte long.
8086 has address conversion mechanism block this is not
availble in 8085. it is used to generate physical
address.the size of this address is 20 bit long.
8086 has rich set of instructions compared to 8085.

Answer / sujan neroulka
both are 40 pin processors
8085 has 16k memory and 16 address lines
8086 has 1m memory and 20 address lines
the memory can be calculated as 8085=2^16=65536 bytes
8086=2^20=1048576 bytes
