Diode is a 2 terminal device and it is used for small
application like rectification etc
SCR is a 3 terminal device and it is used for power
appliaction like inverting, converting and mainly used as
volage control device

SCR'S WE ARE USING STATIC BYPASS IN UPS BUT DIODE ONLY FOR
RECTIFICATION(UNCONTROLLED).

IN case of rectifiers it is AC to DC conversion
where as in case of scrs it is AC to AC or DC to DC conversion

in uncontrolled rectifier we use diode so in this diode we dnt use pulse generator because the diode dnt have gate teriminal to control the trigger pulse so that the reason to call the diode is a uncontrolled device
where as the scr is controlled device because it has a gate terminal to controlled the pulse generator so it is called as controlled device

the very first thing is that diode is a two terminal device
on the other hand scr a three terminal device.rectification
with the help of scr is controlled rectification on the
other hand rectification with the help of diode is
uncontrolled rectification.SCR has a high voltage handling
capacity as compared to a diode.SCR is used in High
frequency applications but diode is low frequency used.
freuency devices, SCR can be in high temparatures but not diode.

A silicon-controlled rectifier (or semiconductor-controlled
rectifier) is a four-layer solid state device that controls
current. The name "silicon controlled rectifier" or SCR is
General Electric's trade name for a type of thyristor. In
SCR the gate terminal controlled the rectification, used in
high power circuits.
on the other hand diod is two terminal device used in
rectification but we can not control it, used in low power
circuits.

IN case of diodes it is used at low power applications where as scr is used at high power applications

Scr is a three
layer three
terminal
switching
device,when we
give the gate
pulse at a
porticular point
the junction
breaks down &
the scr on ,so
scr is a control
device but diode
is a uncontrol
device because
when we give
supply it
automatic on.

SCR stand for silicon controlled rectifier. It is three terminal and three junction device generly used for controlled rectification at high voltage and frequency. But on other hand diode is two terminal single junction device which can be used in forward bias for uncontrolled rectification at low frequency.

Silicon controlled rectifier is a 4 layer with 3 terminal
and 3 layer device which can sub stand at high power and cab
be controlled though it's gate pulse so it is a controllable
device while in case of diode it allow the flow of current
after it's threshold voltage and has no controlled over it
by any means !!
