significance of transistor number
Answer / indira pati
there are 3 types of numbering codes...1)JEDEC: A transistor
is a digit,letter,serial.no. The first digit is number of
leads minus one means ordinary bjt have 3 leads minus one =2
next is letter N for semiconductors...serial no. gives the
info. abt the device operation and specification and we read
the packaging or datasheetto find them...some times extra
letters refers manufacturer. ex:2N7000
2)pro-electron : in this two letters followed by serial no.
the first letter represent the material means A for
germanium and B for silicon. second letter refers transistor
type C means small signal D means power Ex: BC789
3) JIS: in this digit, two letters, and serial
number...first digit 3 leads minus one...first letter is S
for semiconductor ...second letter refer to transistor type
A for high freq. PNP and C for high freq. NPN...sometimes 2S
is assumed it is not stated plained written on component
casing Ex: 2SB560... the label after read B560 where 2S is
assumed....
