Grid substation get the huge rate of power from different power sources like wind, thermal, hydro etc. and all the power points assembled at a mid point is called Grid.
Basically it is located at the power generation side like Outdoor substation.

Substation : it will distribute the power from the Local areas like using step down transformers. Normally this type of substations will be located at the distribution side like indoor substations
