Major losses in a t/f are copper losses and iron losses.
copper losses depends on load current and iron losses depends on voltage. hence broadly we can say cu-losses proportional to I and core losses prpnl to V so we specify rating of transformer as product of these two VI which in nothing but VA, for transformers of higher rating this will be in KVA or MVA.

There is a two reasons
1) because of major losses in the machine that is copper and iron losses.
2)the machine only transfer the voltage and current that is why trasformer and generator called in KVA

what is the maximum rating(KVA) of transformer can be used in distribution side..(11KV/440v) and why??
why we did not get shock by touching nuetral of any single phase supply of a electrical equipement?
i am confused about generator. i have generator of 380 KVA that is 304 KW by that formula KW=KVA*0.8... then by this formula I=KW/V*1.732*0.8 the amperes are 528.673. so that is the load which i put on one phase of generator or this is total 3 phase load on Generator.......
by using pump duty, how we will can calculate the motor duty(KW)? is there any standard or formula.
which motor is used in our Indian Ceiling fan -Capacitor start and run or Capacitor start? (during repair i saw only one capacitor so it should be start only)
