2 cases are - positive (sagging)
- negative (hogging)/
this can be explained by:
consider a rcc(singly reinforced) beam- in which the
bottom of center span (+ve) and top of support (-ve)
section are reinforced to taking care of BM/

it. Right as left
side of section moment
of forces reference to
the section called
bending moment.
Because this un
balance moment try to
bend the beam about
that section.
