What is mean by sink and source in term of PLC and drives,where and how they used in logic..

*Sink means the equipment need external supply.
*Source means equipment generate its self.

In term of PLC all inputs are sink and all outputs are source.

In terms of drive the control unit which need external supply for operation thats are sink type and the control unit which generate supply for controlling thats are source type.

or logic high and low .
