what is the applicatyons of the slipring motor and please tel me more about the slipring concept..

Answer / k.prakashchandra

Slip ring motors are also called rotor wound motors and are
of high capacity..With the help of slip rings, star
connected variable resistances are connected in series with
star connected rotor windings to reduce the starting
current and increase the staring torque by improving pf.The
resistances can also control the speed, sacrificing efficiency.
