its well known tat der r 2 types of syn m/c..dey r salient pole and cylindrical... v kno tat speed s indirectly proportional to no. of poles..(N=120f/P)..Hydro gtr needs low speed operation.. salient pole has many poles which reduces it speed n its used fr hydro gtr and turbo gtr needs to b operated at high speed.. so cylindrical s used..
