Is-limiter is a device for limiting the short circuit. This is a fast acting device and interrupts the short circuit typically in less than 3 m sec. This protects the other circuit breakers in the network with lower short circuit breaking current capability

Is limiter is nothing but a starting current or supplied
current limiter, which is used to limit the starting current
flow through the circuit to avoid the harmful effect in that
like starters, circuit breakers, fuse etc.
