When ever the magnetic flux cuts the conductor, the emf is
induced. at the same time the flux also cut the magnetic
core. it is also a conductor, so emf is induced on that
also. this iron core is a closed path. so a current is
circulated on this core. this current is known as eddy
current.
to minimis this current, the core must be laminated. this
will maked the isolation for current path.

power loss due to the flowing of eddy currents in transformer core is known as Eddy current loss... this can be minimised by laminating the core...
