junction cable is placed in between the trans. and a sub station due to the following reasons.
when a high voltage surge fall on the transmission line it propagates to the either side of the tr. line. we know that the surge impedance of a transmission line is nearly 400 ohm and the surge impedance of a cable is 40 ohms. hence when a surge comes to the sub station from tr. line, the magnitude of surge voltage decreases to a great extent on the cable side due to voltage divider rule. hence the equipments in the SS can be protected.

In legging current reactive power is arise but in leading current which power will be arise ? and in this case, is active power more than rated ?
