Well its actually the concept of SCD (Slowly changing
deimension)which are of three types type1,type2,type3
Type1:-keeps the information about the current record and
no history is maintained it it.
Type2:-Keeps the proper historical information by including
a surrogate key or we can say a flag which will indicate or
point to the currwent information.
Type3:-Keeps the partial historical information we main
tain it by keeping or including two columns say start date
and end date but it si not that much helpful as compare to
the type 2 slowly changing dimension as type 2 provides
more information than type3 .

it's been days since the question was asked and no one
bothered answering, never mind. since i gained some knowledge
about the term 'growing' dimension after the question was
aked in the interview, i'm giving the answer.
among three SCD's, one updates the existing dimension
leaving no traces of history and lets ignore this, the
second stores historical data with a surrogate key and
maintains complete history, the third records partial history.
among all these, apparantly the second dimension is the only
growing dimension in contrast to the third SCD. they
sometimes call it Second dimension as well, you know why??
just because they could
