wht is difference b/ osi & tcp/ip model
Answer / Mohit Tripathi
The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model and the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) model are two different network communication models. Although they share similarities, there are some key differences:n
1. Design Philosophy: The OSI model is a conceptual framework for understanding how data is transmitted between devices, while the TCP/IP model is a practical model that forms the basis of internet communications.n
2. Number of Layers: The OSI model consists of 7 layers, each with a specific function. In contrast, the TCP/IP model has only 4 abstraction layers (Network Interface, Internet, Transport, and Application).n
3. Functionality: The OSI model defines specific protocols for each layer, while the TCP/IP model uses fewer but more widely adopted protocols such as IP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, FTP, SMTP, etc.n
4. Scope: The OSI model is a theoretical framework that can be applied to any network, whereas the TCP/IP model is specifically designed for implementing and managing internet communications.
