ground is a common point of a circuit.it works as a
reference voltage.reference voltage may be 1v,2v...etc.when
the ground is connected to earth the reference voltage
becomes zero.i.e.reference voltage is zero in case of ground.

hi vikash...
u r almost right, but ground and earth are same. the word
gnd is used in European countries and earth in others...
let we come to gnd & neutral
* neutral may act as gnd.. but gnd never act as neutral.
* nuetral is the ref pt of the ckt. and gnd s the
protection pt.
and my frnds.. tell me more!

Hi all, I think i found the problem solved out myself. If we
think easily, there is no difference in between grounding
and earthing but lingual difference and that in US, they
refer ground or grounding whether that is in UK - earthing
or earth.
But there is a subtle difference existed i think, that is
ground is considered as the infinite source or sink of
electric charge where earth is taken mostly for fulfilling
this purpose as a reference.
So, all earthing is grounding but all grounding may not be
earthing as well.
Just think what is the ground point in an aircraft? That's
why, there exists also signal ground, earth ground, chassis
ground etc.

dear friends , you may say that grounding & earthing are same.
but we should kept in mind that grounding is simply to connect the circuit with earth ,but when we talking about earthing , we do the grounding with proper protection .hence grounding with protection is earthing.

dear friends,
Grounding and Earthing r always same.
In U.S it s known as Grounding.
In U.K it s known as Earthing.
Mainly Grounding or earthing is to be done for each and
every Circuit to avoid and restrict the leakage of current
i.e, flow of jumping electrons form the circuit.

Earthing is the point of potential difference having when
there is unbalance flow in the electrical circuits.so to
avoid any demages for equipment they are gronded.
Grounding means the potential point of zero voltage at any
time.
