Controlling the speed of a Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) typically involves pulse-width modulation (PWM) of the switch voltage waveform. In SRMs, the back EMF generated by the motor is used to sense its rotor position, and this information is used to trigger the switches at appropriate times to create a desired torque waveform. The frequency of these switching events directly controls the speed of the motor. Other control strategies include Vector Control and Slip Control.
