Answer / sneha
impedance relay is not inherently directional bt can b made
so,by using a directional unit with it.
reactance relay on other hand doesn't hv directional
feature nor can be made directional using directional unit
mho relay incoparates features of reactance relay with an
addition that it is inherently directional.
other difference lies in their appilication i.e.
reactance relay is used for short transmission lines
mho relay is usaed for long transmmission lines
impedance is used for medium length lines........

Hi friends,
we know about that impedance relay having operating torque produced by the current, restraining torque produced by the voltage.
In the reactance relay operating torque is produced by the current, restraining torque is produced by the current and voltage.
In the mho relay operating torque by the voltage and current, restraining torque is produced by the voltage.
Impedance relay used in the medium transmission line.
Reactance relay used for the small transmission line.
mho relay used in the long transmission line.

impedance relay is phase fault relay&voltage restraining over current relay
reactance is earth fault relay¤t restraining over current relay
mho relay is phase fault& voltage restraining over current relay

Answer / ranvir sharma
actually mho relay is more versatile. it is the advance
version of resistancce relay. since mho is the opposite
version ohm.
so in impedence calculation mho acts instantaneously.

impedance is non-directional and used in medium transmission lines.
reactance relay is non directional and used in short transmission lines.
mho relay is directional and used in long transmission lines.
note: impedance and reactance relays can be made directional by adding a directional unit.
