Answer / mahesh-lanco
instrument transformers are used to measure high voltage
¤t usually in transmision system. As the measuring
instruments are not up to larger values, for example if any
faul occurs KAmps of currentmay be generated there is no
equipment or measring meters are available. For this
Instrument transfrmers (potential Transforers,Current
Trasnsformers)are comes into picture.
Usually secondaries of the Current and Voltage transformers
standardised to 5Amps and 110Volts respectively.

Answer / tushar gawas
instrument transformers are used to measure high voltage
¤t usually in transmision system.
range of certain instrument used for measuring are
limited if it increase beyond limit the instrument gets
damaged.
to avoid this for high voltage & current instrument
transformers are used.
they are ciassified in two types.
1.current transformer.
2.potential transformer.
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 1 Yes | 0 No |
the instrument transformers are
1. CVT(Capacitive voltage transforme)
2. CT (Current tranformer)
First have three cores used for metering and protection
purpose in substation
Second have five cores and also used for protection and
metering in substation
