why the power factor in inductive load is lagging while it
is leading in capacitive load?

Answer / nidhi
in case of capacitor:
voltage lag with the leading current.
and in case of inductor:
voltage lead with the current.
so when cos@ will be taken then it will always be (+)ve .
But whenleading and lagging case is taken then it will be
represented as negative or positive

as power factor is a cos angle between voltage ¤t.In
inductive load current lags, means the voltangle between age
and current goes upto 0 to 90 degree(we assume voltage is
constant).in capacitive load current leds, it means angle
between voltage and current comes down from 90 to 0
degree.And we know cos 90=0,and cos0=1.

I Think
in indutor the curret flow is slow but voltage is fast &in capacitor voltage is appeared slow but curret is fast ({[indutor does not allow sudden change in current&capacitor does not allow sudden change voltage]}) thats why inductor has lagging p.f&capacitor has leadding p.f

for inductive load reactive power will be in loss
but while with capacitive load reactive power will not be in
loss.that means during capacitive load voltage drop improves
but in inductive load voltage drop increases so it is
leading in cap load
