what are the fiber losses,How to rectify it?
Answer / Shubham Gupta
Fiber losses in optical fibers can be categorized into two types: Attenuation and Dispersion. Attenuation refers to the reduction of light intensity over distance, caused by absorption or scattering. To reduce attenuation, using high-quality fiber materials, proper splicing techniques, and avoiding exposure to harmful wavelengths is important. Dispersion, on the other hand, causes signal broadening due to the different velocities at which different wavelengths propagate through the fiber. This can be mitigated by using dispersion-shifted fibers or dispersion compensation techniques. Additionally, reducing bend radius and minimizing connector counts also help reduce losses.
