SCR is a 4 layer 3 terminal device . It has many
application . It can be used as controlled switch (by
adjusting gate triggering pulse an scr can be triggered at
any level ) . Other use include rectifier ,trigger etc

What is the use of scr?..

scr means silicon controlled rectifier.ordinary diode
rectifiers are used for constant dc output voltage.but
scr's are used for variable output dc voltage which
depending on the gate triggering. once scr is fire or ON
the gate voltage is not neccessary. off the scr is possible
only disconnect the anode to cathode voltage.
