Using 11000V/433V,3 ph,50Hz,500 KVA, what is the maximum
capacity of motor in KW that can be connected and started at
a single moment? Also explain about any calculations and
formulas used in deriving the same.

the transformer should not be full loaded all the time so,
its maximum load should be .8 of its full load rating =400kva
so , maximum power of motor should not increase 320kw with
0.8 pf

Since the motor is connected in 433V side , we consider
powerfactor 0.8.so maximum connected capacity of motor is
500*0.8, but we have to run the motor in single start
there are so many methods are there to start the motor like
DOL, star delta starters based on the starter and starting
current of motor we deside the maimun rating of motor( to
start the motor, minimum 70% of voltage is required

considering DOL type of starter (so starting time will be
appx 6 times the rated current)and also considering starting
time of motor may affect the Xmer, then 500/6=83.33 MVA.
Motor rating (pf=0.8)=83.33*0.8=66.66kW (efficiency=100%)
If soft starter is used then motor rating can go upto Xmer
rating.

The power factor of the fixed load is 0.8, now the p.f is varying from 0.8 to 0.5.
We have 11kV/110V three phase indoor potential transformer in 66/11kV Sub-station, where the failure of PT is frequently happening and the rating of the PT is 0.2 class accuracy, with primary star and seconday (two cores) star connected. Some experts has suggested to not to connect the PT Primary neutral to the ground because when transformer neutal NCT connection is loose; the faulty current will flow through the PT primary neutral, resulting into failure of PT. My question is: Is it necessary to remove the primary neutral connection of the PT from ground? if not, what would be the reason for failure of PT. Please guide me.
