The discharge head of the pump is equal to the summation of
static head and friction head in the discharge pipe.
However ; the pump total head is equal to the summation of
static head and the friction head in the suction and
discharge pipe.
N.B. Static head = Is the vertical distance between the
water level in the suction and discharge tanks.
friction head = is the head loss due to pipe friction and
fittings.

Answer / tamagna ghosh
Total head is the height that the liquid is raised to at
the discharge side of the pump less the height that it is
raised to at the suction side.
On the other hand head is defined as energy divided by the
weight of the fluid displaced.

Answer / pramod
total head is the difference b/w suction head and discharge
head, whereas pump head the energy tranfered to fluid by
pump to dischagre.
