What is recession? What is the cause for the present recession?
Answer / Ranjan Kishore
Recession refers to a significant decline in economic activity lasting more than a few months, typically defined as two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth. The current recession, known as the Great Recession (2007-2009), was primarily caused by a financial crisis stemming from subprime mortgage lending and complex financial instruments like collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) and mortgage-backed securities (MBS).
