Explain what is what are semi-additive and factless facts and in which scenario will you use such kinds of fact tables?
Answer / Rina Kumari
Semi-additive and factless facts are special types of data that cannot be easily aggregated across all dimensions in a multidimensional data model. Semi-additive facts can be aggregated only along certain dimensions (e.g., time) and remain constant for other dimensions, while factless facts have no numeric values but provide additional contextual information (e.g., a flag indicating whether a customer is a VIP). These types of facts are used in scenarios where traditional fact tables may not be sufficient to represent the complexity of the business requirements or data relationships.
