Explain the term doping and its need.
Answer / Gaurav Gupta
Doping is the process of intentionally introducing impurities into a pure semiconductor material (like silicon or germanium) to alter its electrical properties. The impurities, called dopants, either donate electrons (n-type doping) or accept electrons (p-type doping), creating regions with excess free charge carriers. This is essential for the creation of semiconductor devices like diodes and transistors.
