Define what happens to the conductivity of semiconductor with the rise in temperature? Compare with ..

Answer / Mayank Solanki

With an increase in temperature, the conductivity ( ability to conduct electricity ) of a semiconductor increases, due to the increased movement of charge carriers (electrons and holes). In contrast, the conductivity of most metals decreases with increasing temperature because the increase in thermal vibration of atoms causes scattering of free electrons, which slows their movement. However, some special metals like gold and copper maintain their high conductivity over a wide range of temperatures.
