First, let's find out how much work A and B can complete in one day. A completes (1/30)th and B completes (1/20)th of the work in a day. Together they can complete (1/30 + 1/20)th of the work in a day. This is equivalent to (5+4)/60 of the work being done daily. To find out how many days it takes for them together to do half the work, we divide 1 by the combined rate: 1 / ((5+4)/60) = 30/9 = 10 additional days after A leaves. Since A had already worked for 5 days before leaving, the total time taken is 10 + 5 = 15 days.
