A man while going dowm in a escalator(which is miving down)
takes 50 steps to reach down and while going up takes 125
steps. If he goes 5 times faster upwards than downwards.

moving.

A man while going dowm in a escalator(which is miving down) takes 50 steps to reach down and while ..

Answer / sabarishsankar

let A goes up and B comes down.
assume A takes 1 step in 1sec.
hence,B takes 5 steps in 1sec.
50 steps ll be moved by A in 50/1=50secs
125 steps ll be moved by B in 125/5=25 secs
hence speed of escalator=(difference of no of
steps)/(difference of time)
speed=(125-50)/(50-25)= 3 steps/sec
hence during upward journey of 50secs by A,total steps=50 by
A and 150 by escalator..total=150+50=200
during downward journey of 25 secs by B,total steps=125 by B
and 75 by escalator..total=125+75=200steps.
ANS:200 steps

A man while going dowm in a escalator(which is miving down) takes 50 steps to reach down and while ..

Answer / pro

All the above answers are wrong.

1. While going down he takes 50 steps and escalator moves x
steps down

50+x ....(1)

2. 5 times faster while going up, 50*5=250 and still the
escalator moves x steps down. so 250-x (2)

Equating both the equns

50+x = 250-x
x=100

use the x in any of the equation, that is the total number
of steps in the escalator.

When the person goes down 50 steps, escalator goes 100 steps
down. So total number of steps in that escalator is 150.
Period.

A man while going dowm in a escalator(which is miving down) takes 50 steps to reach down and while ..

Answer / kaushal

let the speed of escalator be x steps/s going upward or downward let it be upward.
the man is climbing @ 1 step/s then the total time taken in covering 50 steps is 50s

thus man's total speed is (x+1)
time taken is 50s
thus (x+1)*50=total no of steps
now consider the second equation
man is turning back and is moving @ 5 steps/s
and it takes a total of 125 steps so time taken is 125/5=25 s
and the relative speed of man on escalator is(5-x)steps/s

so total no of steps is (5-x)25

now equating both the equations we get
(1+x)*50=(5-x)*125
then x is 1
this is escalator speed 1step/s
moreover thus no of steps is(1+x)*50
i.e (1+1)*50 =100 steps is correct
and fitting it in other eq we get(5-x)*25
equals 100
yes the correct answer is 100

A man while going dowm in a escalator(which is miving down) takes 50 steps to reach down and while ..

Answer / sammy

eq 1 : 50 + s = d (while 50 steps covered escalator goes
down by s steps. total steps covered is d which is constant)
NOW,
50 steps of the p --- s steps of escalator
125 steps of person --- s*125/50 steps of escalator

but while going up speed was 5 times faster
there4,
125 steps of p--- (s*125)/(50*5) = s/2

eq 2 : 125 - s/2 = d
solving we get d = 100 (ans)

A man while going dowm in a escalator(which is miving down) takes 50 steps to reach down and while ..

Answer / barinder

Let down speed = 1 step/sec; time taken = 50secs = 2t
So up speed = 5 steps/sec; time taken = 125/5 = 25secs = t
let speed of escalator = n steps/sec

by relative motion concept if we make escalator at rest
then
down speed = (1+n) steps/sec
up speed = (5-n) steps/sec
as time taken downwards is double time taken upwards but distance is same so upward speed will be twice the downward speed
2*(1+n) = (5-n)
n = 1 step/sec
down speed = 2 steps/sec
number of steps = 2*50 = 100 steps

A man while going dowm in a escalator(which is miving down) takes 50 steps to reach down and while ..

Answer / pavan reddy s

Let escalator take n steps/sec.
So while moving down if man takes 50 sec for 50 steps, total steps are (50n+50).
While moving up for 125 steps he takes 25 sec(As speed is 5 times more now) so total steps are (25n+125).

Now in both cases equate the steps.

50n+50=25n+125
n=3
Sub in any of two cases total steps will be 200.

Ans: 200 steps.

What will be the total no of steps if the escalator werent

but the last line is:
"What will be the total no of steps visible if the
