why holium oxide prepared in 10% HCLO4 SOLUTION..

Answer / Sudhir Kumar Bharti

Holium oxide (Ho2O3) is typically prepared by reacting Holium metal with a strong acid such as Hydrochloric acid (HCl). When Holium is reacted with 10% HCl, it forms Holium(III) chloride (HoCl3), which then decomposes to form Holium oxide and Hydrogen chloride gas. The reaction equation is: Ho + 3HCl -> HoCl3 + H2O.
