briefly explain principle of resistance welding

briefly explain principle of resistance welding..

Answer / Piyush Mishra

Resistance welding is a welding process that utilizes the heat generated by electrical resistance to cause localized melting of workpieces, resulting in their fusion. The heat generated is due to the resistance offered by the workpiece material to the flow of electric current. The resistance welding process can be divided into four basic steps: contacting, heating, forcing, and cooling. Here's a brief overview:n
1. Contacting:tThe workpieces are brought together under pressure using electrodes.
2. Heating:tAn electrical current is passed through the workpieces, causing resistance and generating heat that melts the metal at the contact point.
3. Forcing:tImmediately after heating, the workpieces are forcibly held in contact to allow fusion.
4. Cooling:tThe welded joint cools down, solidifying the weld.
