If defect is not major and can be fix in a minute then we
can ask Dev team to go for Hot fixing but if it was a major
bug then you can explain the defect to the client and say
them we are already working on it and you will get this
functionality appropriately working in the next release.

i agree with wasim answer ,but i can say like that also,first of fall ask to client,who u test the application,ie any screen short,what type of bugs u got,tester also can send relate doc which u test the that particular,finally u can say to client i also test the particular on the time,i did not get any bugs.so this are doc about testing,yerday morning we found a bug there so our testers/dev still working on the functionality,so it will fixed in a next release

i was testing a website and there were no crashes in the website. but client tested the website crashed because the password had expired
so we have to tell client that we will keep a long running password so that it wont happen in future
