You have a sheet cake. There is a rectangular piece missing
from the inside of the sheet cake. The location of the
missing piece is arbitrary. I was told I could assume I had
the means to make the cuts. How do you divide the sheet
cake into 2 even proportions with 2 cuts?

It saids sheet cake, therefore you cannot cut half way
along the thickness of the cake. Instead, find the center
point of the missing piece along with the center point of
the cake, anyway you cut it through these two center points
will be an even cut.

In the Q, 2 cuts means each cut is continuous ie. cuts never
overcross the missing piece.
The soln is to cut the cake along the line joining the
centre of the 2 shapes(missing cake and the other being the
center of whole cake, center in this case being geometrical
centre of the boundry curve). The first cut will end at the
one edge of the missing piece while the second cut will
start from the other edge(in the same straight line). Hence,
2 cuts.

Draw a rough figure to get clear understanding.
Max 2 cuts are required for all the cases.

1st cut: Along the vertical axis through the centroid of
removed rectangular slice.

2nd cut: Along the horizontal axis through the centroid of
original unsliced sheet.

The sheet will be sliced into 4 parts.
1 + 4 == 2 + 3
So two equal parts are formed.

This problem can be solved with only one cut.

Determine the midpoints of the original cake and the piece
that has been removed, either by measurement or the
intersection of the two diagonals of each rectangle.

The cut is the line that connects these two midpoints.

This answer can be determined by mathematics
