AM = Amplitude Modulation
FM = Frequency Modulation
PM = Phase modulation

These are just three different ways of modulating information onto a sinusoidal carrier.

These aren't the only possible three, but they are pretty common.

amplitude,frequency and phase modulation.....these three ways are different....A high frequency carrier wave is changed in accordance with the intensity of the signal.....AM for radio broadcasting.... in television transmission AM for picture signal.....FM for sound signal....PM is similar to FM....
