What is the Difference betn IBS & REPEATER?
Answer / Gurudatta Vashishtha
Integrated Backplane Switch (IBS) and Repeater are used in communication systems to extend cable distances. The main difference between them lies in their functionality:
a. Integrated Backplane Switch (IBS): An IBS is a high-speed, point-to-point switching system that connects multiple devices on a common backplane. It offers packet-switched routing of data and supports a variety of physical media and protocols.
b. Repeater: A repeater is a simple electronic device used to amplify and retransmit signals along a communication line without processing or storing the signal content. It helps extend the cable length by compensating for attenuation, but does not perform routing or switching functions.
