Explain how to measure crank web deflection?
Answer / Mrnal Jain
Crank web deflection is measured using a dial gauge or laser micrometer. First, the engine should be stopped and cooled down. Then, the crankshaft is accessed from either the front or rear of the engine (depending on the accessibility), and a dial gauge or micrometer probe is positioned at the center of the crank web. After zeroing the gauge, the deflection is measured by applying a known load to the crankshaft and noting the resulting movement.
