Exhaust valve leakage in an engine can occur due to various reasons such as worn out or damaged valve guides, valve seats, or valves themselves; excessive clearance between the valve and its associated components; improperly set valve lash (clearance between the valve and lifter); faulty valve springs; or degradation of valve seals due to high temperatures or wear.
