What is the difference between compressor surge and
compressor stall? How it affects the performance? Which type
of compressor generally experience stall and surge?
Answer / guru raja
Compressor Surge occurs when the inlet flow reduces than
certain limit, which leads to flow reversal. Compressor
stall occurs when the pressure at down stream of compressor
is greater than the compressor discharge presure which
leads to no discharge from compressor. Normally centrifugal
